Tankers & FPSOs

Noble Offshore has over 10 years of maritime experience, many of them dedicated to ensuring the huge variety of vessels used to ship crude oil and refined products on rivers, lakes and most importantly the world’s oceans are designed built and operated safely and effectively.

In addition there are chemical tankers, gas tankers (LPG and LNG) along with numerous other lesser-known tanker types carrying liquids including wine and water.
 Design

From the initial concept to finished design, Noble Offshore is at the forefront of vessel design, upgrade and conversion. With extensive in-house engineering and design experience, Noble Offshore provides a comprehensive range of engineering services from concept and basic design through to detailed engineering.

Upgrade engineering is also undertaken for:

  • Shuttle tankers
  • FSO/FPSO conversions including mooring and riser design.

Our design engineers are highly experienced with:

  • Classification and statutory regulations required to ensure full compliance throughout all work undertaken.
  • A comprehensive range of industry and bespoke design and analysis software.

 Build

During a vessel’s construction or upgrade of any vessel, Noble Offshore provides specialist site personnel to represent the owner or shipyard throughout the work from keel laying to delivery.

These specialists ensure that the delivered unit meets the design specifications and terms of the contract and delivered to the owner’s satisfaction. They certify that the class Rules have been followed and for example, the main mechanical and electrical systems have been installed correctly.

Typical site teams comprise experts in:

  • Structural engineering
  • Dynamic positioning
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Piping
  • Electrical and instrumentation
  • Coatings
  • Accommodation/outfitting specialists
  • Tanker & chemical ship specialists

The team is often supplemented during the critical commissioning, tests, and trials phase of the project. We can also manage the construction of the mooring system and installation onboard prior to installation on site.

 Install

The global tanker fleet is a diverse collection ranging from small coastal vessels to huge ultra large crude carriers (ULCC) capable of carrying 500,000 bbls of crude oil. The age profile is also wide with some tankers built in the 1960s, still operating, while newbuilidngs continue to be developed. Noble Offshore is well place to service this diversity with over 100 years of experience.

We also perform analytical calculations for:

  • Sea fastenings and cribbing
  • Weather routing
  • Stability calculations plus loadout
  • Transportation analysis.

Noble Offshore provides tailored single-point moorings and terminal moorings for a variety of clients. This work may include the co-ordination and supervision of system installations, provision of superintendents and mooring masters and equipment or support craft. All activities are carried out in accordance with national, international, and industry guidelines.

 Operate

Safety, environmental protection and incident-free operations are the highest priorities for owners and contractors operating an offshore platform or vessel. Many of the incidents, spills and accidents that impact on tankers can be traced the ‘human factor’. Noble Offshore is working hard to minimise these problems and has set targets of zero personnel injuries, zero spills, and zero equipment damage combined with minimum risk to profitability. Because of the high risks associated with tanker operations, eg. oil spills and environmental damage, Noble Offshore ensures its surveyors and engineers are kept fully aware of relevant class Rule changes, technology and legislation.
